Upcoming Events
Don't forget - if you're in the beautiful Traverse City area over Labor Day weekend, I will be at the Higher Self Bookstore on Front Street downtown. Ricki and her wonderful staff have graciously invited me back. It seems I'm in TC for all of my vacations lately and I love it! Consultations are being scheduled by Higher Self.

AlternaGryl 2004 Calendar just hit the bookstores. I wrote this one for Llewellyn and its in place of my annual Moon Calendar. Find it all across the country in bookstores or order online. The artwork is really cute!

We're planning on doing National psychic fairs all across the country in 2004. If you think your hometown or city would be a great place for us to come and hold a fair, please e-mail me back and let me know.

For my New Orleans friends and clients : The New Orleans Magazine has done an interview and feature on me in its September issue. Please look for it. I will be back in New Orleans the end of September and also October 11-13. Thanks to Clay Thomas for putting together An Enchanted Evening a few weeks ago in New Orleans. Kudos also to Bonnie Broel who hosted and event and our fairy Peggy Gelphi.
The Martians Are Coming
This is from an astrological group I belong to you and was part of the e-newsletter I received from ISAR recently. So many of you have asked me for more information on this I thought to save this and pass it on:

from Paul D. Nunn, Alexandria, VA, sent in by Marguerite dar Boggia: The Red Planet is about to be spectacular! This month and next, Earth is catching up with Mars in an encounter that will culminate in the closest approach between the two planets in recorded history. The next time Mars may come this close is in 2287.

Due to the way Jupiter's gravity tugs on Mars and perturbs its orbit, astronomers can only be certain that Mars has not come this close to Earth in the last 5,000 years, but it may be as long as 60,000 years before it happens again.

The encounter will culminate on August 27th when Mars comes to within 34,649,589 miles of Earth and will be (next to the moon) the brightest object in the night sky. It will attain a magnitude of -2.9 and will appear 25.11 arc seconds wide. At a modest 75-power magnification Mars will look as large as the full moon to the naked eye. Mars will be easy to spot. At the beginning of August it will rise in the east at 10 p.m. and reach its azimuth at about 3 a.m.

By the end of August when the two planets are closest, Mars will rise at nightfall and reach its highest point in the sky at 12:30 a.m. That's pretty convenient to see something that no human being has seen in recorded history. So, mark your calendar at the beginning of August to see Mars grow progressively brighter and brighter throughout the month. Share this with your children and grandchildren. No one alive today will ever see this again... and ps: since Mars rules anger and impatience, watch those tempers during August....
