The Saturn/Uranus Opposition and How it Played Out in the Recent Election

For months I have been writing and lecturing about the Saturn/Uranus opposition; Saturn in Virgo and Uranus in Pisces. Saturn represents law and order, structure, restriction, etc.. Uranus relates to the need to be free and break loose of the past and pushes us to venture into the unknown. In a tug of war between these two planets, Saturn usually yields to Uranus. The first aspect hit exact on election day. We have perhaps seen the best example of Saturn oppose Uranus here in the United States as the majority of Americans opted for change (an Uranus word). So we have a new President; as predicted by many astrologers and here in my own column, Obama did win. Uranus' motto is also expect the unexpected. One can never predict what will happen on a Uranus aspect except there will be sweeping changes. John McCain represented Saturn, the old guard. He is a Virgo and with Saturn on his sun sign this past year, it was a difficult and uphill battle. He gave it a good shot but you could see the tiredness in his face as the campaign winded down. Saturn was really testing him. Obama who is Leo with an Aquarius rising sign,which is ruled by the planet Uranus was astrologically in good position to win because his astro chart represents the uranian energy that linked with that is happening in the cosmos on the very day of the election. I also think Republican running mate and Aquarius Sarah Palin came out a winner during this election. Even though, McCain and Palin did not get elected to the White House, her name is now known and her career got a huge boost. Who knows where she wishes to take her political career from here? But she is now a household name and a Saturday Night Live celebrity spoof. We forget running mates and presidential hopefuls soon after the election is over. I cannot recall who a VP running mate was from 4 years ago but I will remember Sarah Palin for sure. Another testimonial to the power of Uranus; Paling's ruling planet astrologically. Uranus certainly swept into her life and changed it forever.

By the way, another interesting note is that Oprah Winfrey is an Aquarius; another Uranus ruled person who was very supportive of Obama in the election. As you can see, Obama, Palin and Winfrey, all in some way major players in the recent campaign and all Aquarius dominated in some way.

On a personal note, all of us, and especially those of us born in the sixties and early seventies will be experiencing this Uranus opposition on perhaps both an external and internal level. With Saturn in Virgo, all of us are being asked by the universe during these opposition periods to face our fear of change and be able to break free from old worn out structures that no longer suit our personal growth. For many this can be a dead end job, where you can no longer grow as a soul or person. Perhaps a marriage or relationship has run its course and can no longer benefit either party for spiritual growth. One thing is for certain that the end result will be a positive one. But there is usually chaos before or because of the change. But one must remember, that the end result is for the best. America has already begun to make a change that will affect the country and perhaps the world as we know it now. I am not sure what the chaos associated with it will bring. Remember, Uranus' motto; "expect the unexpected". But we are ready and you on an individual level are ready for change too. The wheels of motion are already turning since the first opposition on election day. The aspect will hits three more times in the 2 years. You and I and everyone will be making some major changes in our lives by the end of 2010. This is an exciting time to be alive. I am a person, as many of you are who are reading this, that pretty much know where your life is headed. I have my appearance schedule locked in at least a year in advance. I know where I am going and like to think I am in the driver's seat. But lately I have been feeling I am not so sure anymore what life will throw me. I honestly could not tell you where I think I will be a year from now or even next spring. Unusually I would find this quite uncomfortable but surprisingly I am not. I am excited to start a new chapter of my life. I am excited to see where life will lead me instead of me trying to control every move. I know many of you are feeling the same way. Again, this is an exciting time to be alive. Your soul has chosen to be here at this exact moment. The universe is bringing sweeping changes to our lives. As Saturn opposes Uranus three more times, we should not be frightened but embrace the changes for our growth individually and as a society.

I read my horoscope on 99.5 under your link. I am a Taurus. I went out with friends for dinner last week while I was on vacation. The ladies wanted to play Club Keno. I had never played. The objective is to pick numbers to win. Since I am an accountant, the last thing I wanted to do is pick numbers on my vacation.

Dear Maria,
I wanted to thank you very very much for the advice on writing the "Law of Abundance" check. I wanted to let you know that as of Friday (Halloween) I had only written 2 checks, but that was more then enough to bring me a $250 gas card.
