Maria Shaw's StarScopes Newsletter

Hello StarScopers!

February looks like a much easier month than January turned out be. It should be more peaceful astrologically speaking and Valentines Day looks to be very romantic with soothing and special cosmic influences. Also Chinese New Year is coming and I have written my annual article on it a little further down in this newsletter. Joe Lawson also writes a piece about our recent visit with Jason Hawes and Grant Wilson at their vacation home in New Hampshire.

Special Event with The Ghost Hunters Coming!

We are in the final stages of putting together Spring dates for a combined workshop/weekend with Grant Wilson and Jason Hawes from Syfy's GhostHunters Television program. Joe and I spent a weekend in New Hampshire and did some ghost hunting with them and talked about doing a joint event. Many of you have been on our land tours or cruises. This is similar. We are opening up this opportunity to 60 of you and your friends/families who would like to come with us on our paranormal adventure! More details are being finalized but if you would like to attend some paranormal workshops, a psychic fun fair, do some group ghost hunting and meet members of the TAPs team, let us know. Like I said, more details coming!

Jason, Grant, Joe, Maria and the Ghosts!
By Joe Lawson

"Excuse me, who is staying in room 30?" Looking across the dark dining room, Maria and I look at each other and slowly raise our hands. "Why? I ask. What up?" Rehanna Wilson (Grant's wife) turns towards me and says, "Because I just wanted to let you know something is in your room banging on the walls and locking and unlocking your door." That's pretty much how our entire stay at the Spalding Inn in New Hampshire went. For those of you who don't know, Jason Hawes and Grant Wilson, stars of Syfy Channel's Ghost hunters, own the Spalding Inn in Whitefield NH. Maria and I were invited out to New Hampshire to visit the inn and look into possibly putting on an event there. The real story is more then I expected with odd twists and spirit activity that stunned even the pros; Jay and Grant.

The fun all started at the Manchester airport, where a less then pleasant car rental company, gave us a Kia that was junk from the second we left the airport. With my trusty GPS at the dash and some good company sitting next to me, we were on our way. After about an hour or so on the road, we got a little turned around and stuck due to the Kia and it's bald tires. But we pressed on with visions of ghosts and ghouls dancing in our heads. About a mile from the inn the engine light came on and we broke down. Apparently an hour and a half is too much for this equipment inside of a Kia. So we hitch a ride with a nice passerby who dropped us off at the door. Mind you, Maria is the coolest person I've ever met under pressure but she was about to pop. Walking into the inn and standing at the desk (since we are now well over two hours) is Jason Hawes, getting ready to hop on his snow mobile before we were to all sit down to dinner. The last time I seen Jay (Jason) was when we were in New Orleans broadcasting live. He and his team were shooting footage at an old Plantation. Steve also from the show, and I were on Bourbon Street earlier and then met up with Jason and Grant at the airport to swap stories. "Good to see you again, I said, like wise" says Jay. "This is Maria Shaw, my girlfriend and slave master." "Really?" replies Jason. Do you use a whip or a rusty nail to get Joe to do what you want him to do?" he asks. I'm kidding." FYI; it's a whip. We exchange pleasantries and head to our room. After we de-stress from the car incident, we head to dinner and await our first ghost hunt with Jay and Grant. There are a lot of paranormal shows on television these days but Grant and Jason are the forerunners and very respected. We were excited to be learning more from the best. I introduce Maria to Grant, who by the way are both Cancers! So you can guess, Maria was all over that...as she loves being a Cancer more then anybody I know. She and Grant hit it off.

The guys and their wives purchased the Spaulding Inn as a vacation home. It has a solid history of paranormal activity. Grant told us we would be busy the entire evening and late into the morning, doing investigation work around the inn. He divided our ghost hunt into three areas; the old ballroom, now the dining area; a haunted hallway in the main house and the carriage house, outback. As we settle into the dining area for the K2 and EVP session, Jay and Grant tell us about the history of the inn and what types of paranormal activity has been reported. They shut down the lights and turn on their equipment. I had my voice recorder and Maria by my side. Grant and Jay sat across from us. Well, I can honestly say they were not ready for Maria Shaw; the walking, talking EMF meter. No more the 20 minutes into the investigation, Maria starts naming names and asking for signs of confirmation from the ghosts. The meters were dead until Maria started asking questions and demanding answers. We had three K2 meters set in a triangle pattern. Maria intuitively picks up and talks about a little girl whose presence is here. She asks the little spirit girl if it is indeed her that haunts the Inn. Our eyes are on the K2 meter near the door. POW!!! Lights go all the way up! The ghost girl is communicating with us through the meters; to which Jay and Grant ask Maria to come up with more questions. Maria gets another insight and asks if there is an older woman's spirit in the room who used to spend her summers at the Inn and really loved the place. If this is so, Maria asks, please light up ALL THREE of the meters.

BAM!!! All three K2 meters go off at once! No one could believe it. This stuff just doesn't happen. Jason says, "How do you know all of this? Did you research the place?" Maria says no that she never heard of the Inn until she stepped foot in it. The guys look dumbfounded at me. The best reply I could give was, "It's Maria Shaw, man." Nuff said!! Grant just said very quietly, so as not to disturb the energy; "She's very sensitive." That's a "Cancer" word, don't you know it!

Joe, Maria, and GrantThen Grant asks the spirit or any spirit in the room to touch one of us and shows us a sign of existence. I feel a touch on my arm but don't want to say anything until I feel more. Then a tug at my leg and my whole body grows icy cold. I tell Grant to move the meter around my body and see if there is a temperature drop. There is! A very dramatic one. He grabs one of the K2 meters and the lights flash rapidly, showing clear signals of an entity grasping onto me. Grant tells the entity to back off but the lights still shine strong. He tells me to ask it to back off. I do and the lights on the meter dim. One of the team members shooting the investigation on video captured the whole thing. Then Jason looks at Maria and asks if she senses anything else? Maria pipes up that there is someone in this room, whose mother just passed away and she has been trying to come through the past fifteen minutes. The camera girl immediately breaks into tears and tells us her mother passed just a few weeks ago! Maria gave the lady names of the deceased mother's sister, best friend and father so they knew everything was legitimate. Then Jason suggested we move onto the next site.

So, after a very successful session, we move our mission down a dark hall in the main house that is reported to have many spirits. Now, Miss Maria may be the greatest thing since sliced bread when it comes to psychic and paranormal pick ups, but God forgot to grant her courage to come face to face with ghosts, something that usually goes with the territory. Chicken Little doesn't like dark areas so she's clinging to me for dear life as we walk down the hall and she's picking up spirit energy that wants to be left alone too. We pass by open doorways where shadows appear out of nowhere and creaky noises are the norm.

Our third stop is the carriage house and it is getting into the wee hours of the morning. The house has which has no heat, offers no comfort against the temps that are dropping into the single digits.

Another thing that God forgot to give Maria is a tolerance for cold. We only lasted about ten minutes in 7-degree weather but it was enough to have a door slammed in my face upstairs and Maria darting back to the bar for a little liquid courage. One member of the team saw a full body apparition. I was out of there before the spirit made the big reveal. The rest of the trip went about the same: Impressing the hell out of the very skeptical Jay and Grant. It was enough to ask us to come back and put on an event there. The next morning over breakfast, Grant talked with us about our plans. Jason was already out on the snowmobile! But we shared some cool stories with our Cancer friend and invited he and the families to visit us on Mackinac Island this summer. We told them what a haunted place it is and great for investigations. But for now, we're coordinating schedules between the guys and ours. They want to help us teach ghost investigation to our clients and maybe do some sort of workshop for you all. You're all invited to join us.

Stay tuned…
Nice Letters We Get

Morning Maria
Just finished reading your recent newsletter this morning. Are Jason & Grant the owners of The Spaulding Inn in Whitefield, NH? I can't wait to hear more details!!! I live right down the road in Littleton, NH. Also, FYI: I did a "one question reading" back in August. You said that you saw a sale in the colder months. Well low & behold we had a piece of land on the market since Oct of 2007 we sold in this past Nov. I would consider that a cold month, especially here in the northeast. Thanks for all your insight. I'll be sending another question your way soon. Until then I'll look forward to you plans with the Ghost Hunters.
Have a great day
Deb

Maria,
I just finished reading your Star scopes update. I have to tell you how excited I am to hear about the upcoming event with Jason & Grant from Ghost hunters! My family have watched the show from its beginning and we love it. So now to hear you are collaborating with them is such a treat! Can't wait to hear the news.
Your Fellow Cancer friend
-Lisa

Hi Maria,
It's been a while since I have contacted you and hope that you are doing well. No matter how much time passes, I always feel connected to you and the universe by your newsletters. :) A year ago I had a reading with you in person and am definitely planning on another soon... hopefully in late February or March, as your schedule permits. A friend of mine is going to book an appt at that time too as we have both found the information, insight and predictions you shared with me (on numerous occasions) to be incredibly accurate.

2010 The Year of the Tiger
By Maria Shaw

According to the Chinese Zodiac, the Year of 2010 is the Year of the Tiger, which starts on Valentines Day this year; February 14, 2010 and ends on February 2, 2011. The Tiger is a sign of bravery, courage and a fighter The ancient Chinese teachings say that the Year of the Tiger will keep away the three main tragedies of a home and family; fire, thieves and ghosts.

People born under the year of the Tiger are said to be powerful and brave people. Some are bold and larger than life. They command a room when they walk into it. They are friendly and loving but can be short tempered. Tigers crave attention and power. They often take risks and some of those risks can be quite dangerous. They are attractive and charismatic people.

A Tiger is at their happiest when they are climbing the ladder of success. Some Tigers tend to change careers more frequently because they get bored quite easily. They need to have a goal to work toward. They are natural born leaders and perform at their best if working towards positions of power.

They will never give up no matter how aggravated, frustrated or discouraged they may become.

You are a Tiger if you were born in one of the following years: 1926, 1938, 1950, 1962, 1974, 1986, and 1998 and 2010.

The year of the Tiger will bring massive change and perhaps social upheaval all over the world. 2010 is likely to be a crazy year of change on both for us all on a personal level and a societal one as well.

Those born under the sign of the Tiger will do well this year and are considered to be the luckiest of the entire Chinese zodiac. But this is also because they are people that are open to change.

Those animal signs that is compatible with the Tiger like the Dragon and Horse may also find 2010's inspiring and exciting. However, those born under other signs will not like the unpredictability that the New Year will bring, especially if they are not open to change. Any time we are in a Tiger Year, you should expect at least one major change in your life.

Have a Happy Week!
Maria
