I have been doing a lot of media interviews and radio shows about the recent news report that your sun sign is changing. I have written my thoughts in this newsletter. Also we are happy to announce our psychic fair in Roseville Minnesota at the end of February will be a Cosmic Connections Convention! In addition to the psychic fair, we will have a private classroom and a séance', a crossing over gallery and much more. 9:00a.m. – The Cardinal Climax – The Changes, Challenges and Blessings with Maria Shaw- As we move closer to the end of the Mayan Calendar, many changes are in store. They are perhaps already happening. Each of us is on a journey of change; both mundane and spiritual. Explore why, what, how our lives are changing and how we can navigate these waters. 2011 is a year that's a "Call to Action" time. Learn specific periods in 2011, to harness transformational energies and to create the life you desire.
10:30a.m. – 11:45a.m. Chris Castro – "The Afternoon and Evening of the Soul". Chris shares insight about the transformation of the soul from meaning to purpose in this New Year. The most important change of 2011within the soul is HOPE. Chris will share messages from his angelic and spiritual guides about what this new decade will bring.
12noon – 1:15p.m. Magnificent Manifesting with Catherine Levar-
Tips and tools you can use to manifest prosperity, opportunities and almost anything your heart desires. Tap into your personal power, link to your spirit guides and angels and create the life you dream to live. Catherine, who has spoken around the country and on national radio shows, will share her wisdom on how manifesting can be a natural part of your being. A class you do not want to miss!
1:30p.m. – 2:45p.m. Psychic Kids – with Vonne Johnson -Indigo, crystal, rainbow and gifted children are often misunderstood. Misdiagnosed by doctors and teachers, these special souls were born to teach us so much. If you have a child that you feel is extra "special" in some way but doesn't always conform to society or just curious to learn more about these special souls, this class is for you. Learn how to nurture and assist these souls on their earthly experience.

4:30p.m. 5:45p.m. Maggie Shula- Release Fear and Embrace Gratitude. In the session Maggie will teach you:

7p.m. to 10p.m. Crossing Over Gallery, Paranormal Investigation Class followed by a Séance.
Come to class with an open mind and open heart to receive messages from loved ones on the other side. Maria leads this session with help from her expert panel of psychics.
Following a short break, there will be a paranormal investigation class with LPI's founder, Joe Lawson, who's also worked with the Ghost Hunters and on Most Haunted (Travel Channel). Learn the tools of the trade as well as how to distinguish true "hauntings" from the explainable. Then be part of a séance led by LPI (Lawson Paranormal Investigations). You never know who'll show up!
Sunday Workshops
10a.m. Avianna – How To Trust Your Intuition; A Psychic's Story. Avianna is a commercial designer by day but a psychic counselor by night. She knew she had a gift at an early age but didn't know how to trust, develop and use it. In this lecture she will share with you her journey, in hopes of inspiring you to use your spiritual gifts. There will be a period for questions and answers. We all are psychic but we have a hard time trusting our intuition. Learn some techniques to open and accept your feelings. Once you do, your life will seem to fall effortlessly into place and hold much deeper meaning.
11:30p.m. – 12:15p.m. – Weigh Less with Michelle Schramm – Attaining optimum health and weight management through holistic health practices. Learn some simple yet effective tools in getting rid of those stubborn pounds. Whether you want to lose the last five or have fifty plus to go, learn some proven ways to in shape and feel healthy as you do it.
1:00p.m. – 2:15p.m. Animal Communication – Learn how to understand the signs and symbols your animals are trying to express to you. Your pets are very insightful and psychic creatures. Led by Lena Swanson, learn how to communicate on a "pet friendly" level.

What Sign Are You Now?

The latest media reports about a new zodiac sign seemed to throw everyone into a panic. I want to tell everyone, the SIGNS ARE NOT CHANGING!!!! Whatever sign you were born under, is still and always will be your sun sign.
The reports from an astronomer out of Minnesota are not new news. Every so many years, an astronomer or a group releases the same information, trying to discredit astrology, gain some attention or just "because". In past years, no one paid much attention, but for some reason, the media grabbed onto this story and ran with it, creating a lot of confusion and hoopla over nothing. I have been a journalist, a television news anchor and a print reporter as well as a radio station news director. My college degree is in journalism. Seldom do I critisize my peers but this time I have to say, this was terrible reporting because no one bothered to check facts and no one interviewed an astrologer for this story. They just took one local guy's word for truth. This is a good example of how not everything you read or hear from the media is truth. I hate to say this but these recent reports are just that, inaccurate and mistruths. A good reporter, and even more so, an editor, should have checked their facts and also interviewed the "other side" that was being discredited. But no one bothered to do this.
Now, let me tell you what is wrong with this story.
Western astrologers have never and will never use constellations to determine someone's sun sign. We use the seasons. The spring equinox, the summer solstice, etc. If you were born in the summer season on June 22, you are and always will be a Cancer sun sign.
Yes there is the earth's wobble that over thousands of years changes the constellations overhead but again, astrologers do not use the constellations
Now the other thing the astronomer was saying is there is a 13th constellation, Ophiuchus. However, astronomers and astrologers alike say, Ophiuchus is NOT recognized as a zodiac sign. There are many constellations, but only the ones that connect to the ecliptic are considered to be zodiac signs. Ophiuchus doesn't and therefore will never be a zodiac sign, especially for that reason.
I also find it interesting that this lone astronomer released his findings right after the first of the year, when astrologers are the busiest, probably in hopes of discrediting our science. It is a known issue that astromoners do not take astrologers seriously even though astrology has been a science since 3000BC. In addition to this, the newspaper that first "broke" this story is one that for over six years has turned down every press release or legit story idea my agent has presented to them. They would never run an article on anything to do with astrology no matter how topical or interesting. Yet other media outlets in their city, picked up our story ideas and did interviews or published something.
The claim of this astronomer in question is the constellations are no longer in the same place as they were thousands of years ago so we have been using the wrong zodiac signs for a very long time. But I want to repeat it again, astrology does not use the constellations, it uses seasons. Planetary positions are measured from zero degrees Aries which is the point of the spring equinox and again, we use the SEASONS as reference points.
So rest assured you are the same sign, you always were. Things did not change because some astronomer released a press release on an old "finding" which is irrelevant to the sun signs anyway.
Now, some of you may read the sign before you that the astronomer is saying you now are. And it may sound accurate as to your personality too. I can explain. Many people are born on cusps of each sign and therefore have the traits of each sign. Say you are a Leo born on July 24. You would also be on the cusp of Cancer and have Cancerican traits. And even if you aren't on a cusp, you could have other planets in your natal chart in those signs that create similar personality traits. For example if your mercury was in Cancer but you are a Leo, you will still think and talk like a Cancer person because mercury rules communication and thought process. Hopefully I have cleared this matter up for you.

Good Evening Maria and Joe,
I just listened to your January 2011 pod cast; I am so VERY excited to hear that you will be conducting a séance in Roseville, Mn! I can not wait to be part of this exciting event and attend your lectures as they are always enlightening in some way for me. During your last visit to Roseville I just knew that I needed to attend to hear your lecture about loved ones who have passed on; someone was just urging me to attend specifically for that lecture. Last year I lost my 2nd Dad (step) to cancer so I really had hoped to hear from him but as you know the persons who speak to us are not always the ones we wanted or expected to hear from; in my case it was by two grandmothers (my maternal and paternal) that had a message for me...how wonderful it was to know that they are watching out for me. I can always feel lots of spirits around me but I am still trying to learn how to communicate effectively with them. For instance when my dad passed away in April I woke up to someone singing "I will meet you on the other side" to me so I just knew he went home then I got the call a few minutes later from my mom. What exciting news that you are getting married in New Orleans this year...CONGRATULATIONS and best wishes always. This past summer I had the wonderful opportunity to attend a conference for work in the French Quarter in New Orleans; I instantly fell in love with the city...it is so beautiful and old...I am looking forward to going back again sometime and it is such a great place for a wedding. Have a wonderful month and I will see you in February at the Roseville fair.

I am so very happy for you! I started listening to you when you were on Psychic Radio. You guys were my favorites! You once had Alan Arcieri (not sure of spelling) he has since made his transition. He gave me the best beyond reading ever. Maria you then told me when my soul mate was coming and I so believe you I'm still waiting. LOL You said not before 2012-2014. Joe you recently gave me a reading and told me the person in my life I can't seem to say goodbye to, is leaving on his own. I just love, love, love your God given talents and can't think of a better combination for the Universe, Cosmos and God to join together!

Thanks Maria! I'm really happy, you predicted I would meet someone and marry and the way you described my mate was right on! The Midland fair on 2/5 would work best for me. My fiancé' will be with me that weekend, would he be able to sit in on our session to listen? I've gotten him into astrology (not as much as me yet) but he is becoming more and more of a believer :)
