August is in full swing and so is the mercury retrograde. I have heard from so many of you regarding this retrograde. It lifts on the 26th so hang in there.

Excited about our Minneapolis Psychic Fair this weekend and the Cosmic Connections Convention with the Crossing Over Gallery. Our Michigan September fair schedule is set too. Special thanks to everyone in New Orleans for making our fair last weekend a wonderful event. Always great to visit with y'all! Ms Broel gave us the go ahead to host another fair January 14 and 15th at the House of Broel so save the date!

The Convention is being held both days, in a private conference room at the Radisson. These classes will be in-depth lectures by some of our wonderful intuitive and metaphysicians. In the evening, Maria will offer her popular Crossing Over Gallery at 7p.m. on Saturday. Following will be a paranormal class and séance with Joe Lawson and L.P.I's Chris and Avianna Castro.

Here is a list of the classes offered. (Pre registration is advised as seating is limited. Last time we sold out. Day passes, individual classes and evening event tickets can be purchased separately by credit card, cash or checks.)

Saturday August 13

10a.m.-11a.m. - How Old of a Soul Are You? - Vonne Johnson - The Soul Age. Has anyone ever told you that you are an old soul? Do you feel that you've lived many times before? 12noon–1p.m. - Amanda Dobbins – Psychic Kids; How to nurture and help guide as well as understand your spiritually gifted child(ren). More and more children are being born onto this earth plane with advanced gifts to share with the world. 7p.m. - Crossing Over Gallery and Séancé - Join Maria Shaw for messages from loved ones on the other side. This is our most popular convention event! Come with an open mind and an open heart to receive special messages from ancestors, friends and families who wish to speak to you. A panel of experts will join Maria as well as L.P.I. (Lawson Paranormal Investigations) who will conduct a séance afterwards.

9:00 a.m. – Enchanting Inspiration with Christopher Lawrence – Out of the darkness and into the light, a path to greatness! Chris will share his personal journey with you along with excerpts of his upcoming book.

10:00 a.m. – The Energy Behind Words, How Powerful are YOU? With Avianna – Avianna shares her story of truths and how the power and energy of words and thoughts affects your everyday life. Until we become in the moment and become aware of what we say and think, we shouldn't be at all surprised at how the Universe treats us!

12 noon - Chakras – Our Bodies Guidance System with Jody Tschida – This workshop will focus on the 7 main Chakras of the body's energy system. Each chakra corresponds to a different aspect of our life such as wealth, love, health, and creativity. Chakras store the thoughts and beliefs we have about life, which affect our every action and reaction. How these centers are spinning determine how we react and relate to others and how others react and relate to us.

Maria this will sound crazy... but I have been following your newsletter (July and August) and paying close attention to my intuition about a relationship... my gut was telling me there were secrets and lies... (my instincts, they can be dead on!) you mentioned August 6th would be explosive... lol well lets just say even your General predictions in your newsletter was dead on target for me! Though I knew it would happen today / tonight.... I just didn't want to face it. I finally got the truth I suspected... and now what? There is no point in me writing something when my friend and fellow astrologer DK Brainard puts my thoughts in his own words so wonderfully. I could not have said it better myself. This is an excerpt from his wonderful website. DK was a regular on my CBS radio show and now has blossomed into a nationally known and respected astrologer. Make sure to check out his work.

This week features some really intense astrology as Mars in Cancer activates the ongoing Pluto-Uranus square for most of the week. Mars is the planet of energy, aggression, ego drives and assertiveness and Mars in Cancer can be a warrior for emotional connection. But negatively expressed, Mars in the sign of the Crab can hide his anger behind a thick shell of what looks like uncaring. The shadow side of Cancer is the act of sealing off one's heart and emotions in order to protect oneself from being hurt. And Mars in Cancer is in the sign of his fall, which is fancy astrology jargon for saying we really need to work consciously with Mars in this sign in order to get him to express his best qualities.

As Mars activates Uranus in Aries, our drive for security (Cancer) runs up against the profound need to innovate. Uranus in Aries expresses the imperative to blast away stodgy old ways of doing and thinking about life. This is a "behold I make all things new" kind of energy and it's worth remembering that Aries energy that is too afraid to take risks or is somehow held down or held back will inevitably create survival dramas. We seem to be in the midst of a giant survival drama as a species right now. Mars and Uranus team up this week to forcefully break us out of the status quo and insistently push us to look at the world differently and reach for pioneering, trail-blazing solutions.

Meanwhile Mars and Pluto combine to show us the dark underbelly of our denial-rich way of life. I work hard not to get sucked into the fear whirlpool of the corporate media, but as my friend Adesina said in response to my piece on Three Secrets of Wealth Creation last week, we have to look at what our consumerist, pollution-spewing, disposable lifestyle is doing to our fellow humans and to our planet. Mars-Pluto holds our faces down in the fear and pollution and rampant shadow projection that characterize our current lifestyle. The picture here is that the only security possible is that which comes from facing our own shadow and doing the work required to reclaim our shadow projections and begin living at a new level of integrity. This means no more luxury of blaming the government, the so-called Christians, the terrorists, or even the corporations. It means we take responsibility and we start implementing changes in our own lives and communities.

This is not easy work - which, along with a shocking amount of ignorance that psycho-spiritual integration is (a) possible and (b) an attainable goal worth pursuing - is probably why most of us humans haven't done a whole lot of it. But we are doing it now, and it's the only way out of the situation we're in. Unless the good aliens suddenly show up and save us from ourselves, which may not be such a bad idea.

OK, add it all up and what does it mean? Danger opportunity abounds this week. We've got to feel our anger in order to move forward and it may require some spiritual work in order to reach our anger. Once we're in touch with the anger we need to channel it into being life-change artists. Now. This week. There's a lot of power available for conscious change this week. Let's set our intention together right now that we're going to tap into that power and use it.
