Happy Holidays and Merry Christmas;
I hope you and yours are enjoying the season and taking time to really reflect on the true meaning of this wonderful time of year.
I have written a story on how to use astrology to plan your daily activities. This may help many of you with plans for special events and outings.
We also have a special announcement; we have added a new fair location to our schedule for 2012...Duluth Minnesota! We will be there the third week of January.
A partial psychic fair schedule for the winter and spring 2012 is also included here.
Several of you have purchased gift certificates for your family or friends in different amounts to be used at your receiver's discretion. Anyone who receives a gift certificate has up to a year to use it and can use it for reading by myself, attendance at one of the Cosmic Connections Convention or for merchandise we offer at the website store or at the psychic fairs. It is also good for admission at any of the fairs as well. I can email you the gift certificate. You can print it off on your computer on some pretty holiday paper. Any denomination is fine!
I also have a lovely article by friend Lisa Joiner and some special offers on moon calendars.
Thanks for being a part of the StarScoper family!

Nice Letters We Get
HI Maria,
I received my 2 bags of gemstones and crystals. You were really quite generous in the amount that you sent. Thank you. And since I don't usually write to you, I'd like to wish both you and Joe the happiest of holidays! Thanks – Kittie

"Thanks Maria and Joe. You guys are inspiring. You help keep us focused that we are here for a purpose. I need to remember that. And yes I want to book an appointment in Jan.your lectures just made my weekend!
Love you all!"
Just read your article, "Weight Loss By The Zodiac" and I really enjoyed it.
Have always battled with my weight.... you even (unwittingly) referred to me in your article ----> "Pisces have no boundaries".
Very shortly after my 2011 S.R. occurred, I started stuffing my face uncontrollably... drinking too much (red wine), eating pasta w/cream sauce - enough to feed the 6th fleet. Surely, HELL awaits those who consume that much Haagen Dazs, Dulce de leche! My 'intake' has been ungovernable and I have been packing on pounds at an alarming rate! There is an irresistible 'force' that takes over. I imagine a drug addict must feel the same way!!!
Weight gain with Jupiter in the 6th (as well as the 1st!) is NOT a myth, NOT a 'maybe' but a true and horrible fact.
PLEASE share this 6th-house-Jupiter horror to warn others.
Now that you've got the gist of 2011 you will understand why I was simply ecstatic to discover your article on, precisely, this subject!!!

Holding On & Letting Go
By Lisa Joiner
There are things and people in life we hold onto with such a tight grip we don't realize that by the very nature of the grip we are strangling ourselves and the possibility of right outcomes entering our lives. We are so consumed by the drama, negative details and absence of what we want that we give power to the exact thing that creates the turmoil in our life. We grip even stronger and turn it over and over in our mind trying to find a solution or logical conclusion that is either not there or that we cannot see. We keep holding on even when we say we wish to change. Our words convey one message and our actions convey another.
Other things we hold onto because they feel good, they provide a solid foundation, give us purpose and a sense of who we are and what we can become. We hold on and because we are in right relationship with them they support and guide us and as we honor these things, they give back to us equally. Our grasp is light because we understand this is about holding, not holding on. There is no expectation but rather acceptance and trust. These positive things can be people, places, homes or spiritual beliefs and sometimes they are positive memories of a time gone by or of people who have passed. They are the enduring experiences that provide the structure to our soul for creating and recreating joy, comfort, love, well-being and fulfillment. They are our base, and we hold onto, not let go of them. We embody these collective elements and hold them in our hearts.
Our positive experience then tells us that if we hold onto something and feed it properly it will also feed us in return. When we do not get the desired result, we try harder and hold on tighter. We somehow believe our "doing" we will make everything work out to our liking. Truth is, in these situations, most of the time this is as good as it gets. Not all things are meant for us to hold onto. Our own expectations, attachments and fears drive us to continue trying. We grasp harder, try differently and yet the outcome is the same; drama, turmoil, sadness, negativity, a downward spiral. We resist and the situation continues. We shift our tactic and the situation may shift but the results ultimately are the same.
Releasing our grip and eventually letting go helps to release the strangle hold the situation has on us. Sometimes we let go all at once. We find the inner strength to trust or perhaps accept what is our perception of failure. We jump off the spiral, merry go round or roller coaster and land on the ground. We give up the tug of war and let the rope drop. By no longer tugging on the rope we can look up and see that which has been pulling at us differently. We can walk away and focus our attention and energies elsewhere.
One of my favorite sayings is "Leap and the net will appear." This is about letting go and of course, Trusting Spirit. Letting go is releasing the illusion of control. When we latch onto a situation that we somehow feel we need to steer or control in order for it to reach a desired outcome, we are operating under the illusion that we know what is best and have all the answers. We think if we just keep working at it we can make it happen. If we let go and trust that the perfect solution, outworking and guidance will be there for us, and stop "doing" and start "being" in the present moment, the net will appear. We will feel such relief it can actually feel as though we have been lifted up. We place our trust in Spirit and feel the lightness in our being and this creates the space for miracles to occur.
Letting go and allowing the Universe to do its job helps us to stay focused on the end result instead of thinking about the absence of what we desire.
Letting go takes great courage. It takes trust in the unknown, in Spirit and in our self. Letting go of a dream is difficult. My teacher would say "Dream a new dream." Sometimes we need to let go, to allow our dream to come in differently or for a new dream to be born. Our vision and comprehension can be so limited. With Spirit the possibilities are endless and this is the place where miracles dwell.
Letting go can take great effort, persistence and faith. Many times it requires healing or starting over and feeling sad, scared and anxious are all-common in this process.
Letting go is not for the faint of heart. It is however rewarding, humbling, character building and the place where dreams come into fruition.
For today: I will release control. I trust Spirit to provide the net as I leap, not knowing how, or what or when, knowing only that it will appear.

Working with Astrology to Plan Your Daily Activities
By Maria Shaw Lawson
This article as prompted by the many people who have purchased my annual moon calendar. Most of you reading this probably have several copies and are giving them as holiday gifts. You can print off this article and give it to the folks who will unwrap the calendar this holiday season!
I often do a free lecture at the psychic fairs to help people gain even more knowledge on how to use the moon calendar but for those of you who can't attend, this article may answer some questions for you.
Astrology can make your life so much easier. You don't have to know a lot about it to gain from using it. Besides listing the eclipses, full moons, new moons, mercury retrogrades and other important astrological influences of the new year, I list the moon's transits to help you plan your day to day activities. Full Moons, New Moons, Eclipses; Working with the Lunar Cycle in the calendar.
If you learn to work with the phrases and transits of the moon, you will avoid a lot of frustrations and headaches. You'll also be able to create a lot of opportunities. It's like being at the right place at the right time.
If you're going to schedule a project that will require a great deal of energy and enthusiasm, schedule it between the new and full moon period. That's a two-week period. You will find that everything runs smoothly and falls in place easily. If you are going to finalize projects or add finishing touches, the two weeks between the full moon and a new moon are advantageous. This is a time that energy is at its lowest point and new beginnings of any kind are not highly favored. These are all plainly listed in the 2012 calendar.
Moon Phrases
The New Moon (first quarter)
-Good for new beginnings
Waxing Moon (second quarter)
-Projects are close to being completed.
Full Moon (third quarter)
-Results of our actions come to light.
No Moon (fourth quarter)
-Just learn. Keep silent. Plan for the next phrase.
Moon Cycles
The moon is the fastest traveling planet in our solar system. It moves into a new zodiac sign about every two and a half days. Since the moon influences our emotional side, our moods and attitudes reflect what sign the moon is in on a particular day.
There are days when our lives run smoothly and other days nothing goes right. You're sorry you even got out of bed in the morning. If we follow the flow of the moon and understand its' benefits, we can certainly fine tune our daily routine to run smoother. To know what sign the moon is in each day, you can buy an empheris which charts the daily movements of the planets or use my moon calendar. It's much easier.
A New Moon occurs two weeks before a full moon. On a new moon you should ask questions, start new projects or go on a job interview. Things you start on a new moon will come to completion on a full moon.
Full Moons are when things often come to light. You'll get your answers. The full moon shines light on hidden agendas. Secrets come out. Answers are given. Jobs are offered. If you are waiting on something to happen, it should materialize by the full moon.
Full moons also are known to make people more anxious, super sensitive and force them to take action. You often hear about hideous crimes committed when the moon is full. Hospital emergency rooms are busier than usual and people in general are prone to act irrationally. Cancer born people are ruled by the moon, so its energy affects them dramatically. Therefore, they are psychic, sensitive, emotional and react more to the energy of the moon now than at any other time of the month. A woman's menstruation cycle often coincides with the full moon too. More babies are born.
I know a manager, at a hotel conference center where I hold my seminars, who fired four long-term employees all in one day. I was talking to the girl at the front desk and asked, "Did this happen on a full moon?" She looked at the calendar and confirmed, indeed there had been a full moon! I remember waiting forever for a check from my book distributor. Finally, I gave up worrying about it after I realized I'd get paid on the full moon. It arrived the day before. By the way, the energy of the full moon is in effect three days before it actually becomes full and three days after. You will feel the effect stronger as it becomes full and start to decrease the following three days. So, if you are upset and don't know why, experience unusual bouts of anxiety, if people are grumpy and irrational, look at the calendar. We're probably close to a full moon!
As I stated earlier about every two and a half days the moon changes from one zodiac sign to another. Each day the moon exerts an influence over us. Because of the moon's placement, there are particularly good days to do things and other days you should avoid certain activities. Let's take a look at the themes for each moon day.
Aries Moon - It's a great time to begin new projects and be a pioneer! Just make sure you follow through days later. You tend to be more impulsive and ready to spring into action! You won't have much patience. New experiences could be a big part of this period. People may seem more bossy, selfish or pushy too. There is an increased amount of optimism.
Taurus Moon - It's a good time to deal with, money and investments, renting property and hiring new employees. Plant flowers and gardens. You will appreciation the finer things in life. This is a fertile period when ideas and projects begin to take root and grow. Many people you come in contact with are more stubborn and set in their ways. Good food become important. This is a fine time to prepare a home cooked meal or go out for gourmet dining. These days you will be feeling more materialistic as well.
Gemini Moon - Yakety-yak! Lots of communications, short trips and travel may be featured over the next two days when the moon is in Gemini. Your phone rings a lot and your mail box is filled. You could be more creative in your writing and communication now. There's a tendency to be fickle and change your mind quickly. You'll be on the run a lot but the pace will slow in a few days. It's a great time to get out and play, be with friends, communicate your feelings and spend time with children.
Cancer Moon - Your home and family will be important when moon is in Cancer. You just want to hang out around the house. You may feel more sentimental now than at other times and perhaps even more emotional and insecure. It's a good time to plan family get-togethers and even clean the house! You'll be more intuitive and imaginative these few days. Sometimes you may feel a little down because the moon in Cancer makes you deal with deep feelings you've been too busy to examine. It can be a nurturing time when you seek out things that make you feel safe and comfortable. Preparing comfort foods like macaroni and cheese, meat loaf and mashed potatoes are favorable. People want to nest.
Leo Moon - You're in the spotlight! People have more energy! This is a good time to throw a party. It's a great time to shop because you will run into some super sales! Gambling increases now. People want to have fun, get out of the house and enjoy life! Romance, love and affairs of the heart seem to be a big theme. Your approach to life will be stronger and more ambitious. Watch out for people with big egos. At the same time, you may also meet many people with generous hearts. You may very giving at this time too.
Virgo Moon - These are work days when completing daily tasks become important. I find when moon is in Virgo I want everything in my house to be in perfect order. I'm more fussy about how things look and feel. These are the days to attend to detail and get errands caught up. It's a good time to work on health issues and make doctor appointments. People are more practical, fussy and have specific game plans for these days. It's a great time for getting good gossip too!
Libra Moon - More of a peaceful attitude persists when the moon moves into the sign of Libra. People need and want to be together. Relationships and their importance are magnified. Most people you meet during this period will be helpful, cooperative and tolerant. It is also a time to appreciate beauty, art, music and flowers. Play some of your favorite soothing music, buy some roses for your coffee table or office. Spend time with someone you love. Talk about a business partnership arrangement. Use this day for negotiating when everyone wants to "work things out".
Scorpio Moon - This is a very intense time. It's a time for deep reflection and to get 'to the bottom" of things. Great for sex. Be careful of jealousy and revengeful acts. People seem to be more private and skeptical. They reflect more on inner issues. Many want their privacy. It's a great time for regeneration, for breaking down worn out patterns and rebuilding on a more solid structure. Book psychic readings now or devolve into the occult.
Sagittarius Moon - People are more optimistic and outgoing. This is a good day to travel long distance and deal with people of different cultures or religions. Folks will be honest and direct. It's not a good time to go shopping because you may overspend and regret it later. However, it's a fine day however to participate in sports or physical work. Education, travel and studying higher philosophy are all favored. Overall, there is general feeling of enthusiasm but a tendency to overindulge in things.
Capricorn Moon - A Capricorn moon favors getting things organized. It is a logical, precise time. People are more realistic and sometimes more cautious. Business and job related themes are highlighted. Folks tend to speak their mind and opinions are very strong at this time. This is not an emotional, sensitive period. At times you may feel like these days are mundane. People tend to save their money. They are more thrifty Do not buy shoes under this moon; they'll hurt your feet later on!
Aquarius Moon - Expect the unexpected. Have no game plan. Just see what these few days bring and have to offer. The moon in Aquarius is great for surrounding yourself with friends, building a website and buying new technological gadgets. There is interest in community pride and doing things for the betterment of society. Unique ideas and opportunities may arise. A great day for group meetings, fundraisers and political events. People are more freedom oriented and don't want to be tied down.
Pisces Moon - A highly intuitive few days. You may have enlightening, bizarre dreams that force you to look at the deeper meaning of life. You may encounter whiny, anxious people or perhaps some very creative, giving folks. It is a time many feel guilty or emotional. It's also a period when people want to "escape" the harsh realities of the world. Be careful of drinking too much when there is a Pisces moon or using drugs. People want to be more helpful now. Great time for seeing a romantic movie, having a candlelit dinner and getting lost in a daydream!
Here are a few other tidbits you may find interesting when working with the energy of the moon:
Choosing the Sex of Your Child
Studies have been done for years using the moon calendar for conception. There is a 92% accuracy rate following this method for picking the sex of your child. If you conceive when the moon is in a feminine sign, you'll have a girl. If the moon is in a masculine sign, you'll have a boy. The feminine signs are: Taurus, Cancer, Virgo, Scorpio, Capricorn and Pisces. The masculine signs are Aries, Gemini, Leo, Libra, Sagittarius and Aquarius.
Health Tips
You should never schedule surgery on a full moon. There is usually a complication, infection or something doesn't go right. The full moon is in effect three days before and three days after the night the moon is full. I always tell my clients to be careful around the entire week. Also never schedule an operation when the moon is in the same sign as your natal moon at birth. If you'd don't know what your moon is in, consult an astrologer or an empheris. It is a good idea to buy health insurance under a waxing moon in Taurus, Virgo or Scorpio. A medical exam will go well when the moon is waxing in Leo or Aries.
Do not have surgeries or procedures done on these moon days in these specific areas:
Aries - Head and face
Taurus - Neck, throat
Gemini - Hands, lungs, wrists
Cancer - Breasts, stomach
Leo - Heart, back
Virgo - Intestines, stomach, pancreas
Libra - Bladder, kidney, forearm
Scorpio - Reproductive organs
Sagittarius - Hip, thighs and lower back
Capricorn - Knees
Aquarius - Ankles, calves
Pisces - Feet, eyes
For Diets and Addictions
I tell people to start a diet on a new moon. If you can successfully stay on the program until the full moon, you'll gained discipline to further the weight loss. To stop an addiction, quit after the full moon in Pisces. You can kick a drinking problem or food addiction after the full moon in Taurus or Libra.
Intuitive Readings
If you're hoping to get an excellent psychic reading or just want to be able to tap into your own intuition, the days around and of the full moon are the most favorable. People are much more sensitive around this time, especially the water signs; Pisces, Cancer and Scorpio. Also book a reading on Pisces, Scorpio and Cancer moon days.
Void Of Course Moon
When the moon is moving from one sign to another, sometimes it stops in between signs and takes a rest. It doesn't reach its new destination for a few hours or so. When the moon is not in any sign, this is called a void moon. Nothing ever happens on a void moon. Therefore, you should not plan a conference, party or anything important then. It's as if the world shuts down. People stop what they're doing. The energy of those few minutes or hours can bring a halt to everything. Nothing gets done. When I plan a seminar or expo, we may be very busy all morning and if a moon void hits around 11a.m. our attendance drops dramatically. No one comes through the door. People don't feel like going out. It's strange but it happens. Plan around moon voids.
Maria's Moon Void Tip - File your income taxes on a moon void. You won't be audited!
